Property Surveys for Immigration

Immigration Accommodation Reports (also known as a House Survey for Immigration) are required by non EC visa applicants as part of the visa application process. The purpose of the report is to provide evidence that the accommodation is adequate to accommodate the visa applicant and is safe.

It is essential that an inspection is carried out and the report is produced by a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) as they are responsible for housing standards in the UK. Unfortunately, several clients have raised concerns over some company’s  offer to provide reports without even visiting the property, or in some instances company’s such as estate agencies or architects offering this service!

Mo Javed, Orion’s Senior Housing Consultant said ”Unfortunately, there have been several instances of visa refusals as a result of unqualified personnel undertaking Visa Accommodation Inspections  and in some instances where reports have been produced without  even an inspection of the property. I would urge all visa applicants and their sponsors to ensure that an inspection is undertaken of the property and that the person undertaking the inspection is qualified to do so. A list of qualified Environmental Health Consultants who undertake this service can be obtained from your local council Environmental Health department and is also available on the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health consultant’s directory”.

“In the event that concerns are raised by the Immigration Authorities regarding the validity of an Immigration Accommodation Report, hold- ups (or worse) inevitably occur, often with additional expense”.

"Orion reports are produced by fully qualified Environmental Health Practitioners who are registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and are accepted by UK Visas and Immigration (formerly the UK Border Agency) and British High Commissions worldwide".
